Bee Sting Cake

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!
I'm enjoying the long weekend by doing some baking.
I made a Bee Sting Cake.
Originally, I came across this recipe at Smitten Kitchen.
However, I ended up using this recipe from Chef Dennis.
You probably can't go wrong with either recipe.
Instead of one 9" cake, I made two 6" cakes.
My pans were not spring form so I lined the bottoms with
parchment paper and the cakes came out easily.
This recipe requires a bit of time since it uses yeast.
I made the brioche dough and pastry cream yesterday.
The caramelized honey almond topping is sooooo good!

Besides baking, I plan on doing a bit of barbequing.
On Monday, I'll be making Steamy Kitchen's
I make it with chicken for my husband and with tofu for myself.
I wasn't able to find red chile peppers at the market this time
so I'm using habaneros... should be interesting...
Have a great weekend!
Carmen

    1. Hi, Laura. The cake was good. It almost tastes like a pastry roll - the dough is very rich and buttery but not too sweet. If I make it again, I'll make rolls with the topping which is to die for. :-)
