The Tall Book of Make-Believe

I like books.  Lots of books.
In particular, I like vintage children's books with wonderful illustrations.
Even better when you find them for a steal at Goodwill.
by Jane Werner and Garth Williams
just the other day at my local Goodwill.
It's Copyrighted 1950 and appears to be a library book.
 The illustrations are enchanting.
It's a compilation of children's stories, fairy tales
and poems from the 1920's, 1930's, and 1940's.
If you happen to come across one at a decent price, snap it up.
Looking at Amazon.com and Ebay, this appears to be highly collectible.
Who knew?
On the other hand, I found Volumes I-VII of
Volume VIII was not there.
You'd think these were more valuable, but no.
Probably because they're not illustrated.
They do contain many great stories and I love the old binding.
I can probably easily find Volume 8 to make it a complete set.
I find these to be works of art.
The pictures inspire me with my own creations.

I hope your last couple days of September are dandy.
Have a great autumn week!
Carmen

  1. I have a book addiction myself. The older the better. I adore children's book illustrations.
