This year I made place mats for Mothers' Day.
I specially picked out fabric for each recipient.
I found my fabric at Equilter.com and Fabric.com.
These are very easy to make.
I made three sets of eight place mats.
The backside (forgot to photograph) is a neutral green.
I cut 18"x12" rectangles of fabric (2 for each place mat) and fiberfill (low loft).
Quilt stitch the pieces together, sandwiching the fiberfill in between the fabric layers.
I cut 1.5" strips of bias fabric to bind the edges.
You could use bias tape, too.
I hand stitch the bias binding closed.
This took the most time but I did it while watching TV.
I think homemade gifts are great!
They do require some advance planning.
I hope the recipients enjoy and use them.
I hope you have a wonderful spring weekend! :-)
