Favorite Childhood Books

I was very lucky to have been exposed to reading at a very young age.
I still remember my favorite childhood books.
"The Story of Ferdinand" is one of my earliest memories of favorite stories.
I guess I related to just wanting to smell the flowers...
My sisters and I used to fight over who would check out
"The Lonely Doll" from the public library.
The pictures were so fascinating.

I wouldn't say "Green Eggs and Ham" was one of my favorite books,
but it was surely memorable.
Dr. Seuss was a little harsh for my young sensibilities... ;-)
I loved the "Frog and Toad" books!
If I remember correctly, they were one of those books
you'd order from a school catalog.

Pippi Longstocking was my first hero and inspiration.
I just HAD to see the movies when they aired on TV.
I even tried sleeping with my feet on my pillow several times.
I used to check "Little Sioux Girl" out from the school library
- over and over again.
With the exception of Green Eggs and Ham and Little Sioux Girl,
I've been able to reacquire all these books in my home library.
I still love to read them.
What are your favorite childhood books?
