Herb Garden

The first sprouts of my 2012 indoor herb garden have taken hold.  I've started seeds for basil, cilantro, and parsley.  I don't know which one sprouted first, so it will be a surprise!
The other seedlings are still incubating in a Jiffy tray.
The backyard rosemary has been in bloom for quite a while now.  The bees just love it!  It's January and the bees are still around... rosemary is a great outdoor garden herb - the animals don't eat it and it's green all year.
Growing basil, cilantro, or parsley outside where I live is close to impossible.  It becomes a smorgasbord for birds, rabbits, lizards, and whatever else decides to show up.  Besides rosemary, I've have had success with sage, thyme, oregano, and mint in the backyard.  The animals aren't too interested in these items.  However, occasionally, a rabbit will tear off a couple branches of sage just out of spite.  It doesn't matter - I've got more sage than I can possibly use.

I'll keep you posted on the progress...
